Following the local elections in May 2026, Lewisham Council's Planning Committees were reconstituted and a new meeting timetable was published.
Earlier this week, we were advised that the Blackheath Station Car Park planning application will not be considered at the Planning Committee B meeting on 12 August.
We are now awaiting confirmation of which Planning Committee will next consider the application. Although it was originally heard by Planning Committee B in January, the application must now pass through the Council's committee scheduling process again. Given the backlog following the local elections, it is possible that the application could be transferred to Planning Committee A to help expedite its determination. Planning Committee A is next scheduled to meet on 8 October, while Planning Committee B next meets on 11 November.
Members will recall that when the application was considered in January, the Planning Committee deferred its decision and requested three additional reports from the applicant:
An Economic Impact Assessment
A Parking Survey
A Farmers Market Health & Safety Management Plan
The first of these, the Economic Impact Assessment, was published last week and is available to view on Lewisham Council's planning portal:
The Blackheath Society, together with its independent advisers, is currently reviewing this report and is awaiting publication of the two remaining reports.
Publication of each report is followed by a public consultation period, normally lasting around three weeks. We are currently discussing with planning officers the possibility of extending the consultation period to reflect the summer holiday period. As the application is not expected to be determined before October or November, we do not anticipate any difficulty with this request.
