THE BLACKHEATH SOCIETY

CURRENT ISSUES
Blackheath Village-Greenwich Town Centre Bus Service
The new, extended route for the 386 bus came into effect on Saturday 10 February 2007. It   runs  from Royal Parade (opposite The Cactus Pit Restaurant), down Montpelier Vale and up Tranquil Vale along Hare and Billet Road before turning into Wat Tyler Road. The bus then turns left down Blackheath Hill before turning right along Greenwich South Street. It stops by Greenwich Station before carrying on to the Cutty Sark and following the existing route of the 386. The journey from Greenwich to Blackheath is slightly different in that the bus proceeds along Shooters Hill Road and turns right at the roundabout down Prince Charles Road before going through the village to the bus stop in Royal Parade.
Changes to the 108 Bus route between Lewisham and North Greenwich
The new bus only link between Westcombe Hill and Woolwich Road is now operating. This means that the 108 service is running from Blackheath to North Greenwich via Sainsbury's, the Odeon Cinema and the Millennium Village.
Blackheath Controlled Parking Zone
Lewisham Council operates a CPZ in Blackheath which many residents find oppressive and unsuited to the local parking problems. Our attempt in 2002/03 to press for a review of the CPZ by Lewisham was unsuccessful but the problems and complaints voiced at that time remain.

Lewisham Council have recently consulted resident and 350 questionnaires have been returned. For more information about this review, please read the December newsletter more >>

The comments made by the Society in 2003 still stand. To view our submission more>>
